Eagleville Sailplanes                    Eagleville, TN
Athletes With Goals
Bob Richard (NX), Werner Rüegger (EL), and Michael Poe (MP) completed 500 Kilometer (312 Miles) FAI
Triangle Goal Flights in April.  These flights are the longest goal flights ever flown from Eagleville (since Bill
McFarlane's 500k in 1979) and qualify the pilots for the FAI Diamond Distance Award and several Tennessee
State Aviation Records for motorless flight.

The FAI is the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale and was founded with the basic aim of furthering aeronautical and
astronautical activities worldwide.  FAI activities include the establishment of rules for the control and certification of world
aeronautical and astronautical records. FAI establishes regulations for air sporting events which are organized by member
countries throughout the world. FAI also promotes skill, proficiency and safety in aeronautics. FAI confers medals, diplomas
and other awards to those who have contributed to the achievement of these aims.

Words of Wisdom from our
Mentor
"On a long task - never never never
give up until you're on the ground.  At
the end of the day when the lift is
dying, keep going and don't look down
- the magical evening air will get you
home" - Bill McFarlane
Werner Rüegger (EL) Final Glide -
Gonna Make It Home to Becky!!!!
Mission Accomplished!
Michael Poe (MP) Finishing at 160
mph completing the task.
MP Exits after 6.5 Hours Flying
No Picture of Werner Rüegger grandstand finish because he snuck in while we were organizing his
rescue after losing radio comms the last hour of his flight.  Whooshed over our heads at 15 minutes
before sundown!
Time to Celebrate!

After watching the weather
for days, MP and EL decide
the day is ripe for a second
attempt at the 500K FAI
